“Nothing on this earth is standing still. It’s either growing or it’s dying. No matter if it’s a tree or a human being.”
-Lou Holtz
Leslie’s Approach
My approach to therapy focuses on meeting a client where they are today through an eclectic variety of evidence-based techniques individually tailored to meet each client’s specific needs. With over 36 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I draw upon a wealth of experience and knowledge in CBT, DBT, DBT-PE, Trauma Therapy, Effective Parenting, Mindfulness Training, The Gottman Method of Marital Therapy, Imago, Relational Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
The goal isn’t to “fix” people or their relationship imperfections, but rather to provide my clients with a stronger foundation and the tools they need to more confidently address the challenges unique to their lives. I like to equate therapy to planting the seed of a tree. As we begin, we plant the seed and through our continued work, the seed will grow roots and take hold. These roots are the tree’s foundation, ultimately strengthening the tree as it grows. Though people’s basic needs are the same, our individual circumstances and surrounding environment can leave us feeling unequipped to respond to stressors, thus impacting our personal wellbeing as well at the health of our relationships. Whether you’re dealing with chronic anxiety, marital discontent, or a child’s misbehavior, there are tools and skills available to you, and I’m here to help you develop them.
